Let’s trade in those hiking boots, lace up our running shoes, and go on an invigorating jog through the Southernmost stretch of the Laguna de Santa Rosa!
Kick start your weekend with some exercise as we make our way along the Southern Laguna Discovery Trail, a hidden gem resulting from the collaborative efforts of the Sonoma County Water Agency and the Laguna Foundation as part of the Southern Laguna Restoration project. This initiative not only enhanced water flow within the Laguna but also expanded the riparian zone, providing a richer habitat for wildlife.
Over 30 acres of land have been enriched with more than 4800 native plants and approximately 15,000 native grass seedlings. This transformation has turned the area into a haven for birdwatching and wildlife enthusiasts.
This roughly 2-mile run along the banks of the waterway, offers opportunities to pause, reflect, and discuss various facets of the restoration efforts. Along the way, we’ll encounter informative interpretive signs and take well-deserved breaks to catch our breath while soaking in the surroundings. So, put on your running shoes and join us for an unforgettable journey through this nature-infused adventure!
How to Get There: The trailhead is located just west of the intersection of Rohnert Park Expressway and Stony Point Road. The parking area is on the west side of Stony Point Road, south of the bridge that goes over the Laguna. More details upon registration.

There is no charge for this event, which is made possible by the voters of Sonoma County who fund the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.
