Botánica para principiantes con Caprice Disbrow

Piensa en tu flor favorita. ¿Qué tiene esa planta que amas? ¿Puedes describir esas hermosas partes botánicamente? Ya sea que lo llames botánica, ciencia de las plantas o biología vegetal, este campo es una de las ciencias naturales más antiguas del mundo. En esta presentación, aprenderá sobre la anatomía básica de las plantas con flores. ¿Qué pistas y patrones nos dan las flores que nos ayudan a entender sus relaciones? ¡Sintonízate para aprender a reconocer, nombrar y describir algunas de las increíbles estructuras y formas botánicas que te encantan! También destacaremos y aprenderemos a identificar algunas flores silvestres nativas comunes en espacios abiertos en la cuenca de la Laguna que podrá ver esta primavera.

Caprice Disbrow is a professional botanist and instructor of botany at Santa Rosa Junior College and Napa Valley College. She holds a bachelor’s degree in plant biology from the University of California Davis and her master’s degree in biology from Sonoma State University. Caprice is passionate about the diversity and evolution of California native plants and serves on the board of the California Native Plant Society’s Milo Baker Chapter where she edits the newsletter, serves on the scholarship committee and helps with education, outreach and communications. She enjoys teaching people about biology and ecology and strives to make education accessible to all people.
