Mary is a California native who graduated from Madison High School in San Diego and attended college in San Bernardino and Sacramento before graduating with an AA degree from Santa Rosa Junior College. What’s your favorite Sonoma County place to get outside and why?
In addition to my work in the office, I enjoy volunteering for Ag + Open Space and Regional Parks because it gives me a chance to visit the beauty of Sonoma County. I do not have a favorite place to get outside because there are so many interesting open spaces to investigate in our County.
What’s one fact, statistic, or interesting tidbit about land conservation that you enjoy sharing with others?
I never thought I would find land conservation an interesting topic, but since working for Ag + Open Space a new window has opened for me and there is so much to learn. Sonoma County has so much beauty because of all the land conservation work going on within our county and the people that care so much about it.
What’s your proudest moment working in land conservation and why?
I have found that I am most proud of our staff and how they work so hard to make sure that Sonoma County stays the beautiful county that it is.
What compelled you to pick a career in land conservation?
Well, you know, I was never compelled to pick a career in land conservation. It just fell in my lap, so to speak. My dedication was to become an Executive Secretary and now I know why. I can help with the conservation of land by doing the job that I know best – supporting the people that are doing the actual conservation work.
What’s your favorite ice cream flavor and why?
I love anything with nuts and chocolate. Breyers makes some good flavors.
