Join Sonoma Land Trust outings guide Corby Hines for a virtual hike at Glen Oaks Ranch! This interactive experience, supplemented with photographs and maps, will attempt to mimic what we would do in person on the land.
First, we will meet online and gather together virtually at the old stone mansion to learn a bit about the history of this homestead. Next, we’ll take a “walk” up the creek trail, stopping at various points of interest along the way, learning about the steelhead fish barrier removal work and seeing the chaparral landscape pre and post-fire. Our journey will culminate at the top of the knobcone pine knoll for an expansive view of the Sonoma Valley Wildlife Corridor.
Glen Oaks Ranch is an historic ranch located in Sonoma Valley near Glen Ellen. This 234-acre preserve was donated to Sonoma Land Trust in 2001. Sonoma County Ag + Open Space holds a conservation easement on this land, which designates three conservation zones — historic, agriculture and forever wild.
There is no charge for this event, which is made possible by the voters of Sonoma County who fund the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.
