Bring your family out to Cresta Ranch for a pre-thanksgiving planting party with your friends at the Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District and LandPaths. We’ll be planting native acorn sprouts to restore fish habitat in Porter Creek – a tributary to Mark West Creek, while sharing stories of acorn gathering and processing traditions. Cresta Ranch, a 340-acre ranch located near the Mark West Lodge in Santa Rosa, is a critical purchase made by your Agricultural Preservation and Open Space District to protect water and wildlife.
Cresta Ranch and adjoining properties, though currently closed to the public, will eventually be transferred to Regional Parks and open for public access.
Tools, gloves, snacks, and water will be provided. Bring your own lunch if you have a larger appetite. Bring a hat, sunglasses, dress in layers (it can be cool in the morning near the creek), and be prepared for having fun, getting dirty, learning a skill, and feeling incredibly thankful to live in beautiful Sonoma County.
