Modini Mayacamas Preserve
Come explore the Mayacamas side of the 3,000 acre Modini Mayacamas Preserves. This wildflower hot-spot is protected by Sonoma Ag & Open Space “Forever Wild” easements, and has extraordinary views of the region. These steep, wild properties host lion and bear, eagles, pileated wood-peckers and Mountain quail. We’ll join Preserve Naturalist Dave Self for a walk that explores Ethno-botany, Native management practices, ranching and a vanished mining boomtown (It looks like wilderness now, but had a population 0f 2-4 thousand for a few brief years in the 1870’s).
