Laguna ACTS: Vernal Pool Stewardship Day
Date: October 21, 2020
Time: 2:30 – 5:45pm
Location: Laguna Foundation Environmental Center
Gain community service hours, help an endangered species, connect with other West County teens and learn alongside your friends through Laguna ACTS (Action through Conservation, Training, and Stewardship) vernal pool stewardship days! Vernal pools are special ecosystems found in the Laguna de Santa Rosa watershed, and they host many threatened and endangered species unique to our area. Participants will rake and remove thatch in vernal pools to prepare for planting endangered Sebastopol Meadowfoam seeds while following COVID-19 safety protocol and learning from Laguna Foundation education and restoration staff about the environmental field.
We will meet at the Highway 12 Laguna Trailhead parking lot and walk over to our site. Once we are there, you’ll get to explore, learn more about the project, and launch into hands-on experience with restoration tools. Space is limited and spots will be filled first come, first serve, so RSVP today! No experience is needed and tools will be provided.
Please note you must wear a mask and close-toed shoes for this event, and bring your own water bottle. Long pants, a light long sleeve shirt, a sunhat, and gloves are highly recommended.
This event is free, but registration is required. Sign up now >>
If you have questions, please contact Allison Titus, Community Education Manager at allison@lagunafoundation.org.
There is no charge for this outing, which is made possible by the voters of Sonoma County who fund the work of Ag + Open Space with a quarter-cent sales tax.
