Join LandPaths staff in partnership with the District for a fall hike from the Sonoma Land Trust’s rugged and spectacular Little Black Mountain Preserve to their Pole Mountain property, protected by the District with a conservation easement. At 2,204 feet, the summit of Pole Mountain is the highest peak along the Sonoma Coast, offering unobstructed, 360-degree views of Sonoma County, from the coast to the Cedars, and far beyond. A longtime conservation priority, Pole Mountain’s 238 acres bring together the Jenner Headlands and Little Black Mountain Preserve, creating more than 6,300 acres of connected habitat. LandPaths staff will provide context and discuss property features as they guide the 6-mile round-trip hike from the Little Black Mountain Preserve up the ridge to the flanks of Pole Mountain, which provide spectacular scenic vistas of the Sonoma Coast and surrounding wildland landscape.

Location: Little Black Mountain to Pole Mountain with a carpool from Monte Rio
Level of Difficulty: Challenging! Six miles out and back with over 1000’ of elevation gain.
Leader: LandPaths
