Sonoma Land Trust and Sonoma Resource Conservation District, with funding from the Sonoma County Agricultural and Open Space District, are partnering to provide a free opportunity for the public to learn about and experience the spectacular 234-acre protected Glen Oaks Ranch, with an opportunity to explore the historic stone mansion, the restored stone barn, and nature trails among preserved oak woodlands. Local historian Arthur Dawson will tell stories of the ranch’s agricultural history from its use as cattle range to its prominence in 19th-century viticulture to the devastating impact of phylloxera. Sonoma Land Trust staff will speak about efforts currently underway to preserve the wildlife corridor that passes through the area. Kids can join in the guided nature activities while adults participate in the discussions. Afterward, enjoy a BYO picnic lunch, take a stroll along the trails or tour the historic mansion.
